The Asian College of Journalism in collaboration with the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) of InWent, Berlin conducted a one-week workshop in Online Journalism for mid-career journalists from newspapers, television and online media.
Participants were introduced to a number of aspects of online journalism, consisting of four fields: writing for the Web site architecture, online collaboration, user involvement and citizen journalism.
Participants learned how to understand and apply criteria for writing
for the Web, namely quality of content, usability, and good navigation. They were introduced to tools and concepts for online collaboration and information exchange, such as wikis and groupware, and explored techniques to spur interaction with readers and user involvement, now widely known and discussed as citizen journalism.
The programme was jointly organised by the Internatinal Institute for Journalism (IIJ) of InWent, Capacity Building International, Germany and the Asian College of Journalism (ACJ) in Chennai, India.
This programme was sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
