Film South Asia selected 13 exceptional nonfiction productions of the last two years to create the Travelling Film South Asia (TFSA) 2018 package. The films have been selected from the 63 documentary and non-fiction films screened in the competitive section of Film South Asia 2017, held in Kathmandu, Nepal. TFSA 2018 encapsulated a flavour of the Subcontinent with films from Nepal, Burma, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The package of 13 films was screened at the ACJ on August 31 and September 1. TFSA was inaugurated at ACJ on August 31 with the 2015 Pakistani film, ‘Among the Believers’ by Hemal Trivedi and Mohammed Ali Naqvi. This poignant film focused on a charismatic cleric, Abdul Aziz Ghazi, an ISIS supporter and Taliban ally, on his quest to create an Islamic utopia in Pakistan. The TFSA package included films of the award winners at FSA 2017 as well as other films selected to showcase the variety, treatment and intensity that marks the world of South Asian documentary and non-fiction.
