State-of-the-art facilities

LibraryThe college houses a fully equipped print newsroom, a new media lab with the latest web-based software packages, and a modern television and radio studio.

The print newsroom has computers and workstations with the latest writing and production software, including QuarkXPress and page-and photo-layouts. It also has direct-dial telephones, a collection of standard reference works, and news agency terminals.

The fully digital broadcast facility can handle the whole range of TV and Radio news production and post-production. It comprises a three-camera shooting floor with a radio alcove and excellent acoustics. It has a non- heating lighting grid, a composite production control panel that can handle several online and offline sources, linear and non-linear edit suites with graphics and special effects, Electronic News Gathering (ENG) kits for outdoor TV shoots, and minidisc recorders for radio work.

All students have access to computers with high speed connectivity, LAN networking, and software packages. The Reuters International News Picture Service and the Press Trust of India news service are available online.

The building also houses a specialised library, lecture halls, and classrooms equipped with the latest technological aids. In addition, a cafeteria and a common room are provided for the students. Central air-conditioning adds comfort to a congenial learning environment.
